Help Wanted? Jeff Teague Names Two Guards That Timberwolves Can Pair With Anthony Edwards

In his young NBA career, Anthony Edwards has led the Minnesota Timberwolves to two Western Conference Finals appearances. As impressive as this is, the Wolves are still a few steps short of competing for an NBA championship.

Or, perhaps, they are a few pieces away. For podcaster Jeff Teague, Edwards needs some serious backup when it comes to backcourt offense. On a recent episode of “Club 520,” Teague volunteered three names that the Wolves can target as the trade deadline approaches.

“Malik Monk is dynamic. Coby White is dynamic. Ja Morant, obviously, is dynamic,” Teague said.

The names rattled off by the “Club 520” host have figured heavily in trade discussions, and to Teague’s point, each of them is a proven scorer that can take some of the weight off Ant-Man’s shoulders.

Though Monk’s scoring production has declined in his fourth season with the Sacramento Kings, he is shooting a career-high 42.7% from beyond the arc. Since the end of last season, White has jacked up his production on offense. White has missed several games in the 2025-26 campaign, but when available, he’s good for 18.8 ppg on a 45.1% shooting clip. For all the talk about Morant getting into mishaps on and off the court, the two-time All-Star is still an easy bucket when he’s on the floor. In 20 games this season, Morant has given the Grizzlies 20.0 points and 8.1 assists per game.

It should be pointed out, of course, that Edwards does have scoring help on the Wolves roster as presently constructed. Julius Randle is a frequent double-double threat, but Minnesota can use another ball-handling threat that can further disorient defenders on the perimeter alongside Edwards.

Reports in recent months have made it clear that there is quite a strong demand for the skill sets of Monk, White, and Morant. With less than two weeks left before the February 5 trade deadline, the Wolves front office may have to make a move to acquire a shot-maker among those three (or, perhaps, elsewhere) to give Edwards much-needed help in the postseason.
