Anthony Davis Set To Miss More Time With Brutal Injury

Coming into the 2025–26 season, many expected big things for the Dallas Mavericks given their combination of veterans and No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg. However, they're off to a very slow start, going 4–10 through their first 14 games, and perhaps the biggest reason for that has been injuries.

Not only is star point guard Kyrie Irving still out as he recovers from a tough ACL injury that he suffered last season, but injury-prone big man Anthony Davis has once again been struck by the injury bug. After already missing nine games this season, it has been reported that AD is now going to miss the next 7–10 days at least as he continues to rehab the calf strain that’s kept him off the floor early in the season.

On top of this, Derrick Lively has also missed time early in the year, and given their clear lack of depth in the front court, it's easy to see why the team has struggled despite Flagg's hot start to his rookie campaign. As for Davis, he's been an injury risk throughout his career, and with all of the speculation around his future in Dallas, the latest injury update is the last thing anyone in Dallas wanted.

It's unclear whether or not Davis will be able to return immediately after this 7–10 day absence or whether or not it's going to lead to a longer layoff for the Mavericks star, but whatever happens, it's going to have a major impact on his future and the team's potential success in 2025–26.
