Alex Sarr Balls Out for Team France at EuroBasket

Impressive Washington Wizards second-year player Alex Sarr led Team France in scoring during the team's matchup against Montenegro.

Sarr is one of several high-end players taking part in the Eurobasket tournament. It didn't take him all that long to make his presence felt against Montenegro, as he was able to put up 19 points in only 13 minutes and 45 seconds of play. He is joined on Team France by fellow NBAers Bilal Coulibaly, Guerschon Yabusele, and Zaccharie Risacher.

Team France would cruise to an 81-75 victory in the preliminary game. Montenegro features NBA players as well, as their leading scorer was Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vucevic, who also had 19 points.

Sarr will be looking to take a major step forward for the Wizards this year after he was the second overall selection in the 2024 draft.

The center averaged 13.0 points per game in his rookie season, also adding 6.5 rebounds and adding 1.5 blocks. For his efforts, he was named to the NBA's All-Rookie First Team.

Representing his home country is important to Sarr. He said during the NBA All-Star weekend:

"It’s very exciting. Every year, we feel like we’re getting closer and closer in international competitions. I think everyone shares this feeling, and that’s what we’re going to try to build on in the coming years. There's a lot of buzz about France’s potential. Los Angeles 2028 is on all our minds. We think about it. It’s still a few summers away, but it’s definitely something we focus on."
