NBA Players Overwhelmingly Vote For One Player As MVP In Latest Poll

The 2025/26 NBA season has been one of the most exciting in recent years, and as the season comes to a conclusion, perhaps the most exciting race remaining is the Most Valuable Player award. Last season it was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and in recent years it's been dominated by Nikola Jokic, with both among the leading candidates for the award in 2025/26 on the back of incredible seasons in the loaded Western Conference.

Given that the Oklahoma City Thunder have locked in the No. 1 seed in the West this year, many believe that on the back of 31 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists per game, SGA should go back-to-back this season. However, Jokic (28-13-11) and Victor Wembanyama (25-12-3) have both put forward fantastic cases to knock off the reigning MVP.

This will be a tough one for voters, but recently, the question was put to the players in a poll with The Athletic, and according to the results, SGA's peers overwhelmingly voted him as the 2026 NBA MVP.

“He didn’t just top our player polling; he nearly doubled the support of the second-place finisher, Denver’s Nikola Jokic.”

That's a result that will make some unhappy, especially given how SGA's style of play has turned so many fans off his game, but given how dominant the Thunder have been, this shouldn't come as much of a surprise.

Ultimately, the Thunder are a team that have been dominating in recent years, and given how much SGA has played a role in that, don't be shocked to see him voted MVP for the second straight season.
