Watch Steph Curry And Jimmy Butler Play A Prank On Warriors Teammate

Ever since Jimmy Butler arrived in Golden State, he’s had a special spot in his heart for Buddy Hield. This isn’t a warm, fuzzy highlight reel of emotional moments, however. In this case, “special spot” means “favorite target of punchlines and pranks.”

At a public practice event organized by the Warriors last week, Butler concocted his latest scheme to playfully torment Hield. A viral clip shows that the six-time All-Star’s accomplices in this plan were Steph Curry and a young fan.

In the clip, Butler and Curry are seen speaking with the child on the court. The child begins shedding his Warriors jersey, which just happens to have Hield’s number 7 imprinted on it. The child then starts walking towards an unsuspecting Hield and, apparently as instructed, throws the jersey right at the Warriors guard.

Butler and Curry, the perpetrators of this scheme, let out a belly laugh right after the young fan does his bidding. Draymond Green, who was speaking with Hield at the time of the jersey-throwing incident, had himself a good chuckle as well.

This is the latest hilarious interaction in the unique dynamic between Butler and Hield in the Bay Area. Since Butler’s arrival in February, Hield has been the subject of his over-the-top antics and social media posts.

Some of the most humorous exchanges between Butler and Hield came in the 2025 playoffs. After the Warriors defeated the Houston Rockets in Game 3 of their first-round series, Butler (who did not play in that game) posted an appreciative message for his teammates but went out of his way to clarify: “Excluding Buddy.” In response, Hield wore a custom-made “Excluding Buddy” shirt prior to Game 5.

There have also been multiple media sessions in which the two made side comments to seemingly degrade each other. During one media availability, Hield mockingly welcomed Butler to the podium by saying “Jimmy Butler, everybody” several times.

Despite these shenanigans, Butler and Hield are locked in every time they play alongside each other in actual NBA games. Perhaps the tough love is meant to function as a brotherly language between the two veterans. Either way, there doesn’t appear to be any childish prank that can deter Butler and Hield from pursuing their common goal of winning a title for the Warriors.
