WATCH: Basketball Megastar Says He Didn't Use Ozempic to Get Into Shape

During an appearance on the Today Show, Lakers star Luka Doncic explained how he got into shape for the playing season and denied using any kind of weight loss drugs.

The Lakers pulled off an unbelievable coup last season when they acquired Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks. The deal came out of nowhere, as most other teams in the league did not even realize that the shooting guard was available.

Doncic was, as usual, outstanding last season despite the trade. After the deal, he averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game. Nearly a perfect player, the only questions about Doncic are mostly about his conditioning.

The Slovenian star says that he has gotten in incredible shape this offseason. His transformation has been so incredible that host Craig Melvin asked if weight-loss drugs like Ozempic were involved. Doncic answered:

"I mean, honestly, I try to focus. I think I was feeling pretty good back then, no matter what people say. I think it was the next step in my career. You know, at the end, I’m still 26 and, you know, I got a long way to go. So that was a big step in my career."

This will be a crucial season for the Lakers as LeBron James is getting older and their current core might not be together for that much longer. The team did have an impressive offseason, adding DeAndre Ayton, Marcus Smart, and Jake LaRavia. Doncic was credited with helping to recruit Smart and Ayton to the team.
