Warriors Shouldn't Break Up Current Roster for This Superstar

The Golden State Warriors may have found the perfect mix. Their veteran stars look like they still have enough in the tank, and their young up-and-comers look ready to take on bigger supporting roles. Does the team’s hot start mean that all Warriors trade rumors should be shut down? Absolutely not!

For as long as there are potential stars on the trade market, the Warriors will be involved in trade rumors. Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley recently proposed a blockbuster NBA trade involving the Warriors that would bring a long-wished-for star to Golden State.

Here is what his Warriors trade looks like:

“Golden State Warriors get: Giannis Antetokounmpo

Detroit Pistons get: Jimmy Butler, 2030 second-round pick (from GSW)

Milwaukee Bucks get: Jaden Ivey, Brandin Podziemski, Isaiah Stewart, Tobias Harris, 2026 first-round pick (from GSW), 2027 first-round pick swap (from GSW), 2028 first-round pick (from GSW), 2031 first-round pick swap (from GSW), 2032 first-round pick (from GSW).

This would be a huge move for the Warriors and one that, if Giannis becomes available, the Warriors would obviously consider. They've been kind of obsessed with the idea of getting Giannis for years, and this trade would make their dreams come true.

However, it may not be the best idea. The current Warriors roster is clicking, and messing with that is definitely risky. All evidence points to Jimmy Butler's fit in Golden State being the perfect one. Had he and Stephen Curry not gotten injured in the playoffs last season, they could have been a real title threat.

This Warriors trade idea also pretty much guts the team of picks for the future, as well as a promising young player in Brandin Podziemski.

Giving up so much to get Giannis may make sense, but the Warriors don't need to do it. Giannis has his own issues staying healthy during the playoffs, and the Warriors already know things work with Jimmy Butler.
