NBA Reporter Reveals What The Dallas Mavericks Want In Return For Anthony Davis

Last season, the Dallas Mavericks made one of the biggest and most shocking trades in sports history, and in 2025–26, it appears as though they could be ready to make another blockbuster deal. This time, it would revolve around Anthony Davis, the player they got in return for Luka Doncic, with speculation around the league now heating up that the team would prefer to deal Davis at some point this season.

Whether that's to Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, Toronto, or any other team interested in AD, it's safe to say that their focus is now on building around the former No. 1 overall pick, Cooper Flagg. If that is the case, a recent report from Sam Amick has revealed what the team is looking to get in return for AD, with the report showing that they would prioritize prospects and expiring deals rather than veterans or draft picks.

On paper, that makes plenty of sense, as it would give this team salary cap room and/or players that could grow alongside Flagg as he looks to become the face of the Mavericks franchise moving forward.

However, there's no guarantee that the team will move Davis this year, but if the offers that they want come in, it could be a good piece of business from the front office. Ultimately, in hindsight, the Doncic deal was one that never should have been made, but with the remaining members of the front office looking to make the best of a bad situation, it's likely that they will deal AD in the near future.
