Warriors Plan to Make Big Trade Offer for Former MVP
Jan 29, 2026
The Golden State Warriors trade rumors are picking up once again. After Jimmy Butler tore his ACL, the trade talks around Golden State quieted down a bit. They no longer seemed to be one move away from being real contenders, and the idea of shipping out Jonathan Kuminga looked less necessary with Butler out.
That was until Shams Charania announced that the Bucks are officially looking to trade Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The Warriors have been eyeing Giannis for a long time. They’ve been dreaming of pairing Giannis with Curry and bringing in a star to help lead the post-Curry era. That had widely been considered a pipedream until now.
Reports have surfaced that the Warriors may be willing to put all their trade chips on the table in order to land Giannis. This means the Warriors will make available all players besides Stephen Curry (and probably Draymond) and a boatload of picks.

Most of the deals that the internet is speculating about are centered around a package that looks like this:
Warriors trade: Jimmy Butler, Brandin Podziemski, Jonathan Kuminga, 3-4 first-round picks, and a pick swap
Bucks trade: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, and Kyle Kuzma
A trade like this would mean the Warriors are officially going all-in on the end of Curry’s career. Trading away a ton of future draft picks is risky, but if the Warriors really want Giannis, that’s what they’ll need to pay to get a deal done.
If the Bucks decide to trade Giannis mid-season, the Warriors have one of the best trade packages. If they decide to wait until this offseason, the Warriors will have no chance. That’s why the next few days are so important for the future of the Warriors’ (and Bucks) franchises.
