Charlotte Hornets Could Ask For Up To Two First-Round Picks For Veteran Forward
Jan 23, 2026
The Charlotte Hornets have been hard at work building a young core in recent years, and while they've landed a couple of future stars, it hasn't helped the team take a step forward just yet. As a result, the team is once again likely to head towards a lottery pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, but given some of the assets they have to sell, they could add some more future assets moving forward.
One player that many expect to be moved is veteran Miles Bridges, and despite the off-court incidents that have plagued his career, there is plenty of interest in him around the NBA. Now, according to The Athletic, with all of that interest in the athletic forward, the team is reportedly looking to acquire at least two first-round picks in trade talks for him.
"As for Hornets that might be on the move, veteran forward Miles Bridges is drawing significant interest, league sources told The Athletic. The Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors, and Phoenix Suns are all known to be among the interested parties, though it remains to be seen if any team can compel the Hornets to give Bridges up."
This season, Bridges is averaging 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists, and while he may not be that productive on a contender, he'd still play a major role on a very good team.

Ultimately, moving Bridges for this type of return would be the best possible move for the Hornets moving forward, but given how long he's been with the franchise, there's always a chance that the team tries and holds onto him for more years to come.
