"Call Giannis": Kendrick Perkins Offers Steph Curry A Piece Of Advice After Jimmy Butler Tears His ACL
Jan 21, 2026
The news of Jimmy Butler’s torn ACL has sent shockwaves throughout the Golden State Warriors organization, who are now scrambling for ways to salvage what’s left of this season. Beyond that, the Warriors' front office has come under even more pressure to make a major move as Steph Curry’s championship window nears its end.
For Kendrick Perkins, there’s one clear solution for the folks in the Bay Area. And that solution lies in the hands of the NBA’s three-point king.
"It's perfect timing," Perkins declared on the Tuesday episode of the "Road Trippin' Show," which he co-hosts. "If I'm Steph, I'm getting my light skin, green eyes, and I'm picking up the f***ing phone. You know who I'm calling? I'm calling Giannis."
It's been said that desperate times call for desperate measures, but there is precedent for Perkins' suggestion. Even before Giannis Antetokounmpo was said to be contemplating his future with the Milwaukee Bucks back in the offseason, his name had come up in trade rumors involving the Golden State Warriors.
Perkins sees the logistics working out in this scenario. “If you’re talking about what the Bucks will want to give up for Giannis…Golden State got first-round picks,” he pointed out. And, as fate would have it, the Warriors also have a disgruntled young man by the name of Jonathan Kuminga, who would benefit from a change of scenery if he gets packaged in an Antetokounmpo trade.

The poetic beats of this situation were not lost on Perkins, either. To illustrate his point, he brought back memories of the 2016 NBA title won by his co-hosts Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye, who were part of LeBron James’ supporting cast in Cleveland.
“They [the Warriors] lost their 3–1 lead in the NBA Finals to you guys,” Perkins said. “Who got in the car and called Kevin Durant? Draymond.”
Then, addressing Curry directly, Perk reiterated his advice forcefully: “M*****f*****, ey! Put your pride aside and make that call!”
Over the next several days, calls will be made and missed as the Warriors try to patch things up in the wake of Butler’s season-ending injury. The question is whether Curry will use his extraordinary hands to ring up a certain Greek Freak.
