Giannis Antetokounmpo Calls Out The Bucks After Their Latest Defeat
Jan 22, 2026
The Milwaukee Bucks have been one of the NBA's most consistent teams in recent years, and most, if not all, of that can be credited to two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, in 2025–26, the team has struggled even with their star leader being at his very best, and following some changes over the past 18 months, it's clearly just not working for them.
On Wednesday, that was on full display as the team was beaten by the Oklahoma City Thunder, 122–102, with their record falling to 18–25 as a result. For a long time, fans have simply expected this team to turn things around, but as of right now, it just hasn't happened, and after their latest defeat, Antetokounmpo called out his teammates for their play.
"We're not playing hard. We're not playing to win. We're not playing together. Our chemistry's not there. Guys are being selfish. Guys trying to do it on their own. Right now I think we just don't get it. We got 39 games left; we don't have time. We really don't."
Currently, the Milwaukee Bucks sit in 11th place in the standings in the Eastern Conference, and with the team dropping four of their last five games, it's easy to see where the frustration is coming from.

Ultimately, with all of the speculation surrounding Giannis, there's a chance the two sides eventually break up and deal the two-time MVP, and with the recent frustration, that's looking more and more realistic moving forward.
