Pelicans Reportedly Open To Trading These Two Guards
Jan 23, 2026
The New Orleans Pelicans will be one of the most interesting teams to watch this NBA trade deadline. Despite starting the season with dreams of making the playoffs, they’ve struggled mightily this season. As of Friday morning, they are the worst team in the NBA.
Their record is 10–36, and they are the last seed in the West. Because of this, everyone expects the Pelicans to be big sellers at this deadline. The problem is, nobody is fully clear about who the Pelicans are actually willing to trade.

Marc Stein of The Stein Line set the record straight on who in New Orleans is actually available for trade.
“Players that the Pelicans are willing to discuss? Combo guard Jordan Poole and the feisty Jose Alvarado are said to feature on that list, but recent first-round pick Yves Missi seems to be generating the greatest interest among the players for which the Pelicans have been testing the market.”
Unfortunately for the rest of the league, these aren’t the top players that other teams are coveting from the Pelicans. If the Pelicans are only willing to put Poole, Missi, and Alvarado on the market, a lot of teams are going to be disappointed.
It’s not that those players couldn’t help out multiple teams; they can. The problem is, the Pelicans have multiple other players who will garner much more interest on the trade market. Trey Murphy III, Herb Jones, and even Zion Williamson being available would really shake up the trade landscape.
For now, we need to believe the reports that the Pelicans aren’t putting the rest of their roster on the block. Still, that won’t stop many teams from making them offers to try and pry even more valuable assets away from them.
