Several Contenders Interested In Pelicans Star Saddiq Bey

The New Orleans Pelicans are off to a horrendous start in 2025/26, and with a record of 5–22 in their first 27 games played, many expect them to be sellers ahead of the 2026 trade deadline. Most of that attention goes to Zion Williamson, Trey Murphy III, and Herb Jones, but they've got other unique assets as well.

Now, one of those is drawing major interest, with reports from Evan Sidery revealing that several contenders are keeping an eye on Saddiq Bey.

Once a highly touted former first-round pick, Bey has dealt with plenty of injuries in recent times, but after missing out on the entire 2024/25 season, he's managed to appear in 26 of the team's 27 games this year. In that time, Bey is averaging 14 points on 34% shooting from beyond the arc, but given how cheap he is as a sharp-shooting option off the bench for a contender, it makes perfect sense that he's drawing plenty of attention.

With the Pelicans struggling mightily, they're likely to unload all of their assets as they look to build around Derik Queen and Jeremiah Fears for the future, meaning that Bey could net them a solid return if a bidding war ensues. Ultimately, this is a player who once averaged 16 points a night in the NBA, and while he may never get back to his best following injuries, given how he could contribute on a relatively cheap deal, he's a player that makes sense for many contenders.
