Disconnect Between Kings Veterans and Coach Could Lead to Trades
Dec 17, 2025
The Sacramento Kings are back near the bottom. Unfortunately, this is a position they know all too well. As of Wednesday, they are 6–20 and the 13th seed in the Western Conference. It looks like, once again, the Kings will miss the playoffs, despite trying to build a team of veterans with hopes of a playoff run.

A recent report from Andscape claims that not only are things not working on the court in Sacramento, but there may be a disconnect between the coaching staff and multiple players on the team.
“The Kings are struggling with the likes of Murray and veterans Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Russell Westbrook on their roster. Sources told Andscape that there is a disconnect between some veteran Kings players and Christie and his coaching staff. Sacramento is expected to explore making trades of its veteran players, a source told Andscape.”
It sounds like the Kings are struggling with almost all of their key players. A disconnect between the players and coaches could mean that one side needs to go. It sounds like the Kings are going to try to trade their players, meaning Christie could be safe.
Whether the Kings trade a bunch of their players or fire their coach, it probably doesn’t matter. They have no young players with tons of upside. They have no veterans who will command a hefty price on the trade market.
The Kings, once again, are stuck. They won’t be good anytime soon, but without trading their veterans, they might not be bad enough to grab a top pick in the draft either.
