Chris Paul Could Find a New Home Before He Retires

The NBA world was shocked a few days ago when the Los Angeles Clippers announced that they were sending Chris Paul home to keep him away from the team.
After Paul signed with his old team this summer and then announced his retirement, people were expecting a sweet send-off between Paul and the Clippers. Instead, he was almost dishonorably discharged from his team duties, and now everyone is wondering if his career really is going to end like that.

Marc Stein recently reported on the ALL NBA Podcast that Paul could find himself on a new team sooner rather than later.
“They're going to try to get him somewhere. It's so interesting — in the summer, if you remember, the Bucks, the Mavs, the Hornets — these were all teams that registered interest in Chris Paul. And at that time, Chris Paul was telling teams, 'I want to be in L.A. I've been away from my family for the last five or six years. They've stayed back in L.A. while I’ve played for all these various teams.' His message in the summer was, 'I don’t want to be any farther from L.A. than Phoenix.' Phoenix was as far away as he was willing to go. Now, because things went so poorly with the Clippers, I think he’s open. He’d be open to a variety of destinations. I think he just wants to go somewhere he can have a role and put together a final chapter that he’s happy with — because obviously, the way his second stint with the Clippers went is not how he wants to go out.”
It seems like Paul isn’t going to end his career on the sour note the Clippers gave him. If Paul grows the list of teams he is willing to go to this season, there are at least a few teams that would have to be interested.
