NBA Potentially Looking To Take The NBA Cup Final Out Of Las Vegas Moving Forward

The NBA Cup Championship Game takes place on Tuesday night, with the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs doing battle to crown the third-ever NBA Cup winner. The first two were won by the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks, and with either Jalen Brunson or Victor Wembanyama set to lead their team to victory this season, it's becoming a very prestigious tournament indeed.

However, there has been one major disappointment around the tournament, and that is the finals that have taken place in Las Vegas every season thus far. According to ESPN's Tim Bontemps, though, this could be the last game played in Vegas for the NBA Cup, with the league seemingly frustrated at how little passion and energy there has been in these games over the past three seasons.

That should not come as a major shock, as the energy in the playoffs comes from a home crowd, but in Vegas, the league has struggled to sell out games, and even when they do, the atmosphere simply doesn't match up the way the league had hoped.

As of right now, it's unclear what the alternative is, with the NBA potentially looking to keep this played on the home court of the highest seed, but it's become very clear that something has to change. Despite all of that, the Spurs vs. Knicks matchup should be a thriller on Tuesday night, and with so much on the line and so much talent on the floor, it could be an all-time matchup early in the lifespan of the NBA Cup.
