Reporter Reveals Bad News On Two Memphis Grizzlies Injuries Ahead of the Regular Season

On Monday, the Memphis Grizzlies revealed the brutal news that star point guard Ja Morant would be week-to-week with an injury he suffered at practice. While that's a diagnosis that may allow him to return in time for the regular season opener, it's unfortunately not the only injury the team is dealing with.

According to other reports, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Zach Edey are both dealing with injuries, with the team clearly beat up heading into the 2025-26 campaign.

Jackson is a key piece of this Grizzlies’ defense, and, according to reports, he is also considered week-to-week after undergoing offseason foot surgery. Last year, the former Defensive Player of the Year tallied 22 points a night and six boards on 38% shooting from beyond the arc, and if the team is to have any success, they need him as a key presence in the paint.

The other injury issue is second-year big man Zach Edey, who will officially miss the first month of the 2025-26 regular season as he, too, deals with an ankle injury. The sophomore center stepped up to become a huge part of the Grizzlies’ rotation a year ago, and heading into the new season, he's set to take his place as the starting center when healthy.

The hope in Memphis is that both Morant and Jackson Jr. can be ready for their opener on October 22, but as of right now, the Grizzlies need plenty of luck if they want to be fully healthy for the new season.
