Oklahoma City Thunder Star To Miss Several Weeks Of Action
Feb 5, 2026
The Oklahoma City Thunder have once again been the best team in the NBA this season, and given how loaded their roster is from top to bottom, it's easy to see why many favor them to go back-to-back in 2026. With the All-Star break upcoming, the team were set to be represented by several players, but now, that may no longer be the case.
Reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been incredible again in 2025/26, but unfortunately, the latest report on his injury situation has revealed that he will now be out a few more weeks, at least until after the All-Star Game on February 15th.
According to reports, it's an abdominal strain that keeps SGA sidelined, and while it's not going to be a long-term injury, rushing back from it would put him at very unnecessary risk, making the patient approach the much better one for the Thunder. Currently, OKC have SGA, Chet Holmgren, Alex Caruso, Isaiah Hartenstein, Jalen Williams, Lu Dort and the newly acquired Jared McCain sidelined, so while they're still a major threat, they will be without some key pieces for a long stretch moving forward.

On paper, this team is still the best in the NBA when healthy, and while they're not healthy right now, there's no fears that anyone on this roster will be out long-term. Ultimately, if SGA still plays 62 or more games this season, he's likely to be the front runner for MVP once more, and as of right now, the hope is that he will be back shortly after the All-Star Game.
