New York Knicks Reportedly Not Ready To Pull The Trigger On A Blockbuster Trade
Feb 3, 2026
In the summer of 2024, the New York Knicks made not one, but two blockbuster trades, acquiring Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets and Karl-Anthony Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves. In doing so, the team completed what they believed could be an NBA Championship contender, and with the addition of Mike Brown as Head Coach, 2025/26 was the year fans believed they could finally win it all once more.
However, during a recent rough patch, speculation grew around the teams link to Giannis Antetokounmpo, with many seeing a combination with Brunson as the duo that could lead them to the promised lands. Now however, ESPN's Brian Windhorst is reporting that the Knicks are not aggressively pursuing the Bucks superstar, with the organization happy with their current team.
Since their struggles, the Knicks have won six straight games and now sit at 31-18 on the season, and while they may look to move a bench player or two along with picks for an upgrade, their core is likely to remain in tact. That means that the lineup of Brunson, Towns, Hart, Bridges and Anunoby are going to be the core moving forward, and given how close they were a year ago, with Brown as their boss, this season could be different.

Ultimately, there's a chance that if the price is right, the Knicks can make a big move, but for now, they believe they've got the lineup to win it all, meaning they're not chasing an upgrade aggressively.
