Donovan Mitchell Discusses the Adjustment of Adding Harden to the Mix

The NBA world was shocked this week when reports started to surface that James Harden might be looking for a new team. The Clippers had been one of the best teams in the league over the last month or so, and it looked like they had really turned a corner. Then the Harden trade rumors popped up, and everything changed.

In the end, the rumors were true. The Clippers traded Harden to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Darius Garland.

Now, Harden joins Donovan Mitchell and the rest of the young Cavaliers in an attempt to make a run for the Eastern Conference crown.

Mitchell spoke about Harden joining the team and how he will have to adjust to their new roster.

“We both know that it’s going to be an adjustment, but we’re excited. I’m excited about what he can do for me as a player, and I’m excited about what he can do for our team as a whole. We want the same thing. We both want a championship. “So, at the end of the day, we’re shooting for the same goals, and we have to go about trying to win at a high level…We know that there is going to be a period where we have to adjust. I’m going to have to figure out how to play without the ball a little bit. I’ve done it before, and I’m going to have to do it again. But James is one of the best to ever do it. I think we both want the same things, and we both have the same goal in mind. We just want to win, and I think that we’re willing to do what it takes.”

James Harden is a very specific type of star. He needs the ball in his hand a lot to be at his most effective. Let’s see if Mitchell can adjust his game to complement Harden or if, like many of Harden’s previous stops, his play style and attitude cause problems on the court.
