Dennis Rodman To Be Enshrined In WWE Hall Of Fame
Apr 10, 2026
Playing an impactful role on five championship teams, earning two Defensive Player of the Year awards and seven straight rebounding titles, Dennis Rodman carved out a role for himself for the better part of fourteen NBA seasons. As arguably the greatest rebounding and defensive forward in the history of the game, Rodman was rightfully inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and a spot on the 75th Anniversary Team. Next weekend, Rodman will add another honor to his illustrious resume.
As part of the WrestleMania 42 festivities, Rodman will be inducted into the Celebrity Wing of the WWE Hall of Fame. Fitting for a person as eccentric as “The Worm” or “Rodzilla,” as he was better known in the squared circle.
In the midst of the Chicago Bulls' 1998 championship series against the Utah Jazz, Rodman skipped practice to join Hulk Hogan and the NWO on an episode of WCW Monday Nitro. Rather than working on his X’s and O’s on the hardwood, Rodman was mastering the art of bodyslams, steel chair shots, and spray paint graffiti. In a cultural crossover that blurred the lines between professional sports and sports entertainment, while critics and the Bulls front office focused on Rodman’s apparent lack of focus and professionalism, he was busy turning a championship run into a masterclass of self-marketing.
Rodman didn’t limit his appearances to backstage cameos and in-ring promos as he soon found himself in the main event at the Bash at the Beach PPV, teaming with Hulk Hogan against Diamond Dallas Page and his NBA nemesis, Karl Malone, whom he had just beaten for the NBA title a few weeks earlier.
With two of the league’s premier power forwards trading clotheslines and headlocks, not only was the wrestling world watching, but so too was the basketball world as Rodman and Malone held their own in an unfamiliar setting. Possessing a natural charisma and character made for the wrestling industry, as well as a willingness to take bumps, Rodman (and Malone) earned the respect of the WCW locker room, joining a long line of celebrity/wrestling crossovers.
Rodman didn’t limit his wrestling career to a couple of random WCW appearances, as he would also find himself working a match at the i-Generation Superstars PPV, joining the cast of Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Wrestling Championship reality show, and an episode of AEW (All-Elite Wrestling).
The Celebrity Wing of the WWE Hall of Fame features names like Drew Carey, Bob Uecker, and Kid Rock, individuals who did not exactly mix it up physically in the wrestling ring, as well as people such as Mike Tyson, William Perry, and Mr. T, who all took a bump and got physical on more than one occasion. Rodman’s stint in the wrestling world brought mainstream attention to the industry at the height of the Monday Night Wars. Come WrestleMania 42 weekend, the man who dominated the glass and famously married himself will be honored in a Hall of Fame that knows no boundaries.
