Michael Porter Jr. Has Some Controversial Comments About the WNBA
Nov 20, 2025
Oops, he did it again. Michael Porter Jr., the Brooklyn Nets' new “star” forward, once again went on a podcast and said some controversial stuff. MPJ already did this during the offseason when some of his comments on women and sports gambling raised eyebrows around the league.
Though over the last few weeks he has been staying relatively quiet, he recently went on The Ball Family podcast and had some, let’s say, interesting remarks regarding whether WNBA players could beat NBA players.

After Lonzo Ball said that he believes he could dominate WNBA players in the 9th grade, this is what MPJ said in response. "I'm probably going with 8th grade because I have real experience doing this. I played with my sisters. They played at the University of Missouri, and I was still a young kid. They had me playing on the scout team, and they had a few WNBA players on their team, like Sophie Cunningham and a couple others. I was in the 7th or 8th grade, going crazy. So, I have real-life experience. It's just a difference, and I wish this would stop being a conversation because it should be common sense. I appreciate common sense. I feel sometimes that's lost a little bit."
This one is going to grab some headlines. While Lonzo was the one who actually brought up the idea of dominating WNBA players as a kid, MPJ doubled down. He also has his past podcast transgressions, which won't make this quote look any better.
But, hey, I guess when you're playing on one of the worst teams in the NBA, you've got to entertain in other ways.
