Kevin Durant Opens Up On Playing The Thunder On The Night They Receive their NBA Championship Rings
Oct 9, 2025
Kevin Durant found himself with a new team this offseason, as his short tenure in Phoenix came to an end when he was traded to the Houston Rockets. The team is set to contend in 2025/26 after taking a major step forward a season ago, and with Durant as their likely go-to scorer, this is a team that’s set to experience plenty of postseason success.
To start their new campaign, they’ll face a team that experienced plenty of that in 2025, as they will begin the season by facing the Oklahoma City Thunder as they raise the banner for their first-ever NBA Championship.
That just happens to be the team that Durant started his career with, and after turning his back on them in free agency, he signed with the Golden State Warriors. Unsurprisingly, he was asked about that in a recent interview, where he noted that it was over a decade ago, and that he has no feelings on that situation now.
“I’m not happy, sad, or mad. I missed out... I’ve won two... this was like a decade ago.”
That is a comment that makes sense from Durant, as both he and the Thunder have had success since they parted ways, so there’s simply no need for hard feelings from either side. That likely won’t stop fans from commenting about the situation on social media, but when it’s all said and done, the focus will be on the floor, not on what has happened in the past between everyone involved.
