Jayson Tatum Doesn't Rule Out Returning From Injury This Season
Sep 23, 2025
Last season was another great one for the Boston Celtics, but unfortunately, it ended in the most heartbreaking way possible. Not only was the team thoroughly beaten by the New York Knicks, but they lost their biggest star after Jayson Tatum went down with an injury, with many expecting him to miss the entire 2025/26 regular season.
However, Tatum himself hasn't admitted to that as of yet, opening up on his plans for next year during his latest interview. In that interview, the Celtics superstar revealed that while he's not rushing to get back before he's ready, he hasn't given up on the idea of a return.
"That is the million-dollar question. I think for me and my team, the doctors, the organization, the most important thing is making a full recovery, [and] being back 100%. Not rushing it. But I haven't said like, 'Yo, I'm not playing this season,' or anything like that."
"I have a goal in my mind... I'm not working out, rehabbing six days a week for no reason."
As a result of his injury, the Celtics moved on from several key players, with many believing that was likely due to the team wanting to rebuild on the fly while he's out, as they're likely not going to compete in 2025/26. However, if they can stay in the hunt and get Tatum back, absolutely anything can happen, so while fans shouldn't count on a Tatum return, he isn't ruling it out, so they shouldn't either.
