Jaylen Brown Reflects On The Adjustments He's Had To Make Since Jayson Tatum's Return

Coming into the 2025/26 regular season, not many people saw the Boston Celtics as a genuine contender following the injury to Jayson Tatum during their NBA Playoffs series loss to the New York Knicks. However, they've managed to not only stay alive, but thrive as well, as they currently sit in the second seed in the Eastern Conference, once again entering the post-season as a genuine NBA title threat in the East.

This success comes on the back of Jaylen Brown, who is having a career year this season, averaging 29 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists as the Celtics have posted a record of 46-23. Despite the injury, Tatum has returned recently, and since then the team are 5-1, with the two hitting it off like nothing has changed following the achilles injury to the star forward.

While the return of Tatum was obviously a positive, some believed that it may be difficult for Brown to adjust given his role, but now he's reflected on how things have changed since Tatum's return.

"It takes humility and it takes some understanding. JT is extremely important to us for what we want to do. Obviously I'm having a great season but, I just have to think, what's the big picture?"

Clearly, Brown has shown that he's happy to adjust, given that Tatum takes the Celtics ceiling from playoff threat to genuine NBA Championship contender.

On paper, this team is once again ready for a deep run, and while it would have been easy for Brown to not adjust to Tatum and continue on his career year, he clearly sees the big picture, and in a wide open East, that could mean success for Boston again.
