Israeli Basketball Powerhouse Maccabi Tel Aviv Adds Two More Former Sixers

Maccabi Tel Aviv, a top team in the Euro League, has added two more former Philadelphia 76ers players, Jeff Dowtin Jr. and Oshae Brissett.

If you are a professional basketball player who isn't able to link up with an NBA team, you often end up playing overseas. One of the better places to land is with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

That happened with Lonnie Walker IV, a former first-round pick who played with the 76ers last year. He signed with the Israeli team earlier this week and should emerge as a top player in Europe.

Dowtin Jr., a 6-3 point guard, was a star in college during his time at Rhode Island, but he has struggled to find a place in the NBA after going undrafted in 2020. From 2021 to 2023, he made appearances for the Golden State Warriors, the Milwaukee Bucks, the Orlando Magic, and the Toronto Raptors.

The point guard played his last two seasons in Philadelphia and has his best season in 2024-25. Getting 15.1 minutes per game in 41 contests with the Sixers, Dowtin Jr. averaged 7.0 points per game and shot more than 40% from the three-point line. A career 37.7% three-point shooter, he could likely work his way back into the league with a good performance in Israel.

Oshae Brissett, a wing player, went undrafted in 2019 but was a regular rotation player for the Indiana Pacers early in his career, making 25 starts in 2021-22.  Brissett played in only 6 games for the 76ers last year, averaging 8.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in 23.7 minutes per game.
