Draymond Green Calls For The NBA To Relocate A Western Conference Rival
Mar 19, 2026
In the past few weeks, there's been plenty of chatter around the NBA about expansion, with the belief that the Seattle Supersonics could make a return while the league also expands into Las Vegas. If that is the case, it's going to force one of Memphis or Minnesota to move to the Eastern Conference to give each league 16 teams, but it's also opened up some other conversations as well.
This is one that Draymond Green has happily inserted himself into, as he recently took to his podcast, the Draymond Green Show, to call for the league to relocate the Grizzlies to Nashville.
“Adam, let them just do us all a favor and take the team to Nashville. No harm, no foul—no relocation fee. It’s a swap. See that arena? You ain’t gotta pay the relocation fee.”
It's been a long held belief in the NBA that Memphis is the most unpopular city for opposing players to go, and with the team never having a true superstar, it would make sense for them to go to a much bigger and more exciting city.

Unsurprisingly however, there's been plenty of pushback to Green, and while that may just be pure hatred for Green from those fans, he makes a solid point. By total fans in the crowd this season, the Grizzlies have had just 503,290, which represents by far the lowest number in the league, and while it's unlikely to happy, it's likely that Green isn't the only one that holds this belief.
