Draymond Describes How Much He's Sacrificed for the Warriors Organization
Mar 10, 2026
In today’s NBA, it’s almost unheard of to spend 10 years with the same franchise. With player movement at an all-time high, it seems like even the best players in the league don’t spend more than a few seasons with one franchise. The Golden State Warriors have defied that trend. The Warriors have rostered Stephen Curry and Draymond Green for well over a decade, making them the two longest tenured players with the same team.
However, as Draymond has started to age, some people are wondering why the Warriors have kept him around. He is still a valuable player, but he’s also brought a lot of unnecessary stress and drama to the organization. Draymond recently revealed why he thinks the Warriors continue to keep him around.
“Draymond has given up a lot of money in staying here over the course of my 14 years because I love this place. So I’ve always done right by our organization. They’ve always done right by me. And I know people struggle to understand that. They’re like, ‘Oh man, y’all not sick of him?’ No, I’ve always done right by them. I’ve always given everything I have from a basketball standpoint. I’ve sat in draft meetings, in free agent pitches, in free agency meetings, on calls at 2-3 o’clock in the morning trying to help recruit a guy, trying to help with strategy. I’ve done all of that. And so they’ll never understand and appreciate that, and that’s okay.”

There’s a reason Draymond has never left or been traded from Golden State. He’s an integral part of the organization on and off the court. He’s made financial sacrifices to help the team. So, despite his declining play, the Warriors are going to do what they can to make sure Draymond retires in a Warriors jersey.
