Famous Celtics Fan Says They Are Terrified to Face Heat in Playoffs
Mar 10, 2026
The Miami Heat and Boston Celtics have a funny type of rivalry. As one of the most historic franchises in the league, the Celtics have had many adversaries over the years. Obviously, the Philadelphia 76ers, New York Knicks, and Los Angeles Lakers have been their most famous enemies over the years. However, in the last few seasons, there has been a bit of a rivalry building between the Celtics and the Miami Heat.
Just in the last six postseasons, the Celtics and Heat have faced off four separate times. They have split those series 2-2, and bad blood has been created.

For much of the season, it has looked like Celtics fans don’t need to worry too much about the Heat. The Heat have struggled a bit this season and haven’t looked like real title contenders. That doesn’t mean Celtics fans aren’t seeing their current hot streak and starting to worry. Bill Simmons, NBA podcaster and famous Celtics fan, recently spoke about how he doesn’t want to meet the Heat in a playoff matchup.
“I watched that Rockets game, that’s when I got scared. What they did to Charlotte Friday was notable. Then just took it to Detroit. Herro is just back! Herro is like ‘I’m actually offended you guys forgot I was good at basketball and I was thrown in trade deadline sh*t. Like I’m good.’ Bam has gotten better offensively as the season went along… he’s been a 22 & 10 guy for two months. For the playoffs you have two heat check guys, Bam who’s steady, a defensive identity, good coach, some weird bench guys and wings. I just don’t want to see them in a series. I’m just horrified.”
The Heat do seem to be hitting their stride at the right time. They’ve had the Celtics number in the playoffs in the past. Could the Celtics' surprise season come to an end by another Heat defeat? Bill Simmons certainly hopes not.
