Doug Christie's Future With The Sacramento Kings Officially Revealed
Jan 8, 2026
Doug Christie took over as the official head coach of the Sacramento Kings this summer after the departure of Mike Brown, following half a season as their coach in the interim. Unfortunately, his first year hasn't started as anyone in the organization would have hoped, as the team has picked up just eight victories in their first 37 games played.
That's led to plenty of speculation over the future of some of their key veterans, with players like Zach LaVine and Domantas Sabonis reportedly drawing interest on the trade market. There's also been talk about Doug Christie's future with the Kings, but for now, Anthony Slater has reported that Christie's job is safe... for now.
Simply put, this team needs plenty of work to become a genuine contender, and while that may mean trading some of their veterans and rebuilding for the future, GM Scott Perry believes that Christie is the man to lead them forward. Unfortunately, he's yet to show that he can translate his potential into wins on the court for his team, and as they sit at 8-29 through their first 37 games, fans are becoming increasingly frustrated with Christie's deployment of the current roster.

On paper, Christie has the makings of a very good head coach in the NBA, but as of right now, he's simply not producing wins, and while the team may look to rebuild the roster around him, if that turnaround doesn't come, Christie may not be around much beyond this season.
