Minnesota Timberwolves Pick Up Young Bulls Star In Massive Trade
Feb 5, 2026
The 2026 NBA trade deadline has been quick, shocking and full of movement, and with just hours remaining, there's still speculation over some of the leagues top names. Following a Wednesday that saw several blockbuster trades, Thursday began in much the same fashion, and this time, it was the Minnesota Timberwolves that acquired a very intriguing piece.
After spending months needing a new guard to pair with Anthony Edwards, the team have now made a trade with the Chicago Bulls, landing 26-year old Ayo Dosunmu in the process.
In the deal, Minnesota gave up former first-round pick Rob Dillingham, along with Leonard Miller and an impressive four second-round picks, with the team clearly valuing Dosunmu's versatility and defensive presence. This season, the former second-round pick is averaging 15 points, 4 assists and 3 rebounds per game, and alongside Donte Divincenzo, he'll no doubt play a key role for this team at the point guard position moving forward.

While many expected them to land the likes of Ja Morant as an upgrade, that simply never ended up happening, and now, with a roster that's set to compete for an NBA Championship, they're hoping Dosunmu can play a major role. If they can't reach the NBA Finals in 2026, this is a team that's likely going to be all in on a major upgrade in the summer, and while they gave up Dillingham and many picks to make this move, they've still got the assets for a much bigger one down the line if this doesn't work.
