Donovan Mitchell Addresses The Possibility Of LeBron James Signing In Cleveland

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been one of the Eastern Conference's best teams in recent years, and in 2025/26, that hasn't changed, even after a very busy trade deadline. At that deadline, they dealt one of their most important players in Darius Garland, landing former MVP James Harden in the process, and now, they believe they're a genuine NBA Championship threat this season.

However, some have already started looking to the off-season, with rumors circulating around the NBA that the greatest player in franchise history may look to return home for one final season in the NBA. This was brought up to Donovan Mitchell at All-Star weekend, and unsurprisingly, he was excited at the potential opportunity of playing alongside LeBron James once in his career, if indeed he did end up signing with the Cavaliers.

“As a Bron fan, to be able to be a teammate, that would be special... It's LeBron James.”

Sure, LeBron would be 42-years of age at points throughout the 2026/27 season, but with the superstar forward likely looking for some type of retirement send off, it would make sense if he chose Cleveland as a free agent this off-season.

Obviously, nothing is guaranteed in sports, and that means that there's a chance we don't see James in Cleveland again before his career is over, but with the opportunity to chase one last title for his home town team, it appears as though current Cavaliers are on board with the idea.
