Steve Kerr Gives Honest Evaluation on Warriors Ahead of All-Star Break

The Golden State Warriors are in an interesting position. Just a few weeks ago, the team got healthy, and it looked like they were finally hitting their stride. Then Jimmy Butler tore his ACL, and all the Warriors’ hope for a deep playoff run went out the door.

Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Steve Kerr have already addressed the fading Warriors dynasty. However, one thing they continue to say is that they just want the chance to compete. They don't need to be frontrunners; they just want to be in the conversation. Without Butler, they aren't really in the conversation, but Coach Steve Kerr hasn't lost hope for the season. When discussing the All-Star break ahead, this was what he said:

"We've got a chance to get recharged here over the break and come back. Got plenty to play for... we feel like we can be a really good team, and I think our guys are showing why with the way they're competing... success will come if we continue the process we've been showing."

Being a “really good team” is probably not going to be enough to make any noise in the Western Conference playoffs. With teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs all sitting at the top of the Western standings, just getting out of the first round is going to be a feat for the Warriors.

Still, the Warriors have Curry and Green and just added Kristaps Porzingis to the mix. There's a glimmer of hope that if everything breaks right, they could be a strong playoff contender. Let's see if that actually happens, though.
