Move Over, All-Star Weekend: The KD Files Are Now The Talk Of The Town

The 2026 All-Star Weekend had its fair share of memorable moments: Damian Lillard claiming a third 3-Point Contest crown, Carter Bryant and Keshad Johnson rocking the rim, De’Aaron Fox nailing a go-ahead triple at the buzzer to lift his team to victory.

And then, there were the KD Files.

Even as “USA vs. The World” got underway on All-Star Sunday, a storm was brewing on social media as netizens pored over screenshots from an alleged burner account. The man behind the account, they claimed, was none other than Kevin Durant, who has a reputation for being outspoken in the online realm.

If the allegations were true, the inner thoughts of Durant concerning teammates both past and present may have just been revealed to the world.

“I can’t trust Jabari to make a f**kin shot or get a stop,” one screenshot read, presumably referring to Durant’s current frontcourt partner, Jabari Smith Jr.

“Your franchise player can’t shoot or defend,” another screenshot relayed. Was this a shot at Houston Rockets big man Alperen Sengun?

“If you don’t screen and pass up shots for Steph, U gettin waived,” another screenshot read, possibly a reference to Durant’s stint with the Steph Curry-led Golden State Warriors.

The question is, are these screenshots legitimate? Did NBA Twitter just eavesdrop on a real conversation that Durant supposedly had with his buddies?

This much is known: In the late 2010s, the former NBA MVP admitted to using burner accounts on social media. Defending this decision, Durant said at the time that burner accounts allowed him to shoot the breeze with his friends without others butting in and taking things out of context.

To date, there is no concrete proof that those screenshots are genuine and that Durant is indeed behind the burner account in question. Whether or not KD chooses to publicly address this issue, the cat’s now out of the bag: Fans are going over the screenshots and wondering how the 16-time All-Star will now get along with the peers that were name-dropped in the KD Files.
