Steph vs. Dame at the 2027 3-Point Contest? Warriors Star Says "100%"

When a still-recuperating Steph Curry walked into Intuit Dome on All-Star Sunday, fans got nothing more than glimpses of participation: a wave to the crowd during the game introductions, some enthusiastic reactions on the bench as he cheered on USA Stripes, and even a HORSE shot from the NBC panelists’ desk.

Curry had no field goal attempts as he sat out the All-Star competition, but he made sure to shoot his shot for a certain event next year. Now, fans can’t wait to see this event unfold.

As the “NBA on NBC” crew had a small chat with Curry, the topic of the 3-Point Contest naturally came up. The million-dollar question: Would the league’s all-time leader in three-pointers participate in the 2027 3-Point Contest to try and claim a third crown?

“Oh, 100%,” Curry replied. The three player-turned-analysts standing next to him (Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter, and Tracy McGrady) are all grown men, but they swooned like true fanboys when Curry confirmed that he had already “scheduled it.”

Just the night before, Damian Lillard made headlines by becoming a three-time winner of the 3-Point Contest, joining an extremely short list that had consisted only of Larry Bird and Craig Hodges. Will Curry, a four-time NBA champion, land himself as the fourth entry on this list?

As if the sparks of a potential Steph vs. Dame showdown weren’t hot enough, Curry name-dropped other elite snipers that he’s hoping to see in Phoenix next February. “I’m trying to get Klay [Thompson] and Dev [Booker]. Let’s go!”

Both stars mentioned by Curry are 3-Point Contest champions in their own right. Back in 2016, the final round of the contest came down to Curry, Thompson, and Booker, with Thompson getting the better of the Phoenix Suns guard and his fellow Splash Brother to win the event. Two years later, Booker exacted revenge on Thompson by outgunning him en route to the 2018 3-Point Contest title.

By publicly calling out the defending champion and two other top-tier sharpshooters, Curry is setting the stage for a possibly historic 3-Point Contest next year. If the stars align, all of these gunners will be 100% by the time the 2027 All-Star festivities erupt.
