Victor Wembanyama Surpasses Spurs Legend Tim Duncan In Surprising Category
Feb 11, 2026
Victor Wembanyama arrived in the NBA as one of the most hyped prospects in sports history, and thus far, the French phenom has not disappointed with the San Antonio Spurs. Through three years, the talented big man is averaging 23 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists per game, and in 2025/26, he's taking his game to another level entirely.
With 24 and 11 to start the season, he's leading the Spurs back into the NBA playoffs conversation as they currently sit at 37-16, good for second place in the standings in the Western Conference. On Tuesday, he was at it again, posting a ridiculous 40 and 12 as the team came away winners over the Los Angeles Lakers 136-108 in an incredibly dominant performance.
Not only that, but it was Wembanyama's sixth career game of 40 or more points, and in doing so, he passed Spurs legend Tim Duncan, who managed 5 throughout his iconic career with the team.
Only time will tell if Wemby's career can ever get to the heights of Duncan on both ends of the floor, but as of right now, he's just 22-years of age and is considered one of the most polished and talented players in the entire league.

Ultimately, Wemby has been everything that the Spurs could have hoped for when they drafted him No. 1 overall back in 2023, and if he keeps up this level of play, we may have another dynasty on our hands in San Antonio.
