LeBron James Analyzes the Lakers' Play So Far This Season
Feb 16, 2026
The Los Angeles Lakers are having a solid season. As of the All-Star break they are 33-21, good for the fifth seed in a loaded Western Conference. The Lakers have cooled off a bit from their hot start. However, they’ve been dealing with injuries to all of their key players at some point, and have stayed afloat relatively well.
LeBron James was recently asked how he thinks the Lakers' season is going, and he answered honestly.
"I know that when we've played some of our best basketball this season, we look very good. On the other side, when we've been terrible, we've looked disgusting. I think the most important [thing] is if we can get healthy, how many minutes we could be on the floor, how much chemistry we can build with the sprint starting. You would hope that you can have the regular season and kind of build that cohesiveness and things of that nature, but I'm hoping that if we can get healthy, that we can start to build that…Our success is going to come down to, obviously, I think, our health. Our coaching staff is putting us in the right position. I think they're going to give us a game plan every night, but when it comes to what we have to work with, we have to actually go out and see it. We haven't been privy to having that opportunity much this year.”

Like most teams, the Lakers’ success will come down to health. If LeBron, Luka, and Reaves are all at full power entering the playoffs, the Lakers could beat anyone. That being said, the playoffs also comes down to chemistry and role players excelling.
The Lakers' role players are certainly not on the level of some of the other Western Conference contenders, and injuries have made it difficult for them to build chemistry. In the end, those factors will probably be the reason they are unable to win it all, even if healthy.
