De'Aaron Fox's Return To Action Shows How Great Spurs Can Really Be

The San Antonio Spurs are off to a hot start to the 2025–26 NBA season. They currently sit at 7–2, good for the second seed in the blood bath that is the Western Conference standings. They've been led all season by the incredible play of Victor Wembanyama and the rest of the Spurs' young core, but things may just be starting to heat up.

While Wembanyama’s insane start to the season has cooled off a bit, the Spurs are now adding a secondary star to the mix. Star point guard De’Aaron Fox has finally returned from injury and is ready to help take the Spurs to the next level.

Fox has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since before the season, and looked awesome in his debut. Fox led the team in scoring with 24 points, adding three rebounds and three assists to the stat sheet.

Coach Mitch Johnson had this to say about the addition of Fox to the team’s roster. "[He's] been around the league now for almost a decades, been in All Star. He's been in the playoffs. He knows what things are supposed to look like and feel like and execute and so it's good when you can have someone that has the experience,"

The Spurs have been missing a star veteran presence like Fox. While Dylan Harper and Stephon Castle have looked more than capable of filling in for Fox, having someone with the experience of leading a team and closing games.
