Miami Heat Open To Trading Veteran Guard This Off-Season

The Miami Heat have had a few down seasons in recent years, and after trading Jimmy Butler at the 2025 NBA trade deadline, they appear to be entering a new era. That era is likely to see the team build around Tyler Herro, Norman Powell, Kel'el Ware, and Bam Adebayo, with plenty of potential around them.

It's unclear what the future holds for the likes of Andrew Wiggins and Jaime Jaquez, but one thing is for certain, and that is that the team is ready to move on from veteran Terry Rozier. That has been reported by Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, who notes that the team remains open to moving him, but just how aggressive they have been in shopping him is currently unclear.

Rozier landed on the Heat after signing a four-year, $96 million deal with the Charlotte Hornets, with the 31-year-old set to earn $26 million this upcoming season for Miami. Despite playing 26 minutes a night last year, Rozier averaged just 10 points a game on 39% shooting for the Heat, and given that he also had a career-low of just 2.6 assists per game, there likely won't be many teams pursuing him this offseason.

Ultimately, this is a Heat team that currently lacks direction and star power, and while a Rozier trade won't get them star power, it will open up minutes for some of their younger players, and as they look towards the future, this may be the thinking of Pat Riley.
