Bobby Portis Thinks This Teammate is Sticking Around
Aug 13, 2025
During a conversation with ESPN Milwaukee, Bobby Portis said that he expects his superstar teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo to be with the Bucks for the long term.
There has long been rumors about Giannis Antentokuonmpo requesting a trade out of Milwaukee. Despite those rumors, it would still be hard to imagine that actually happening.
Milwaukee has not only been home to the Greek Freak for his entire 12-year career, they have also kept a quality team around Antentokounmpo which resulted in an NBA Championship in 2021.
But it is hard to keep a championship level core together for the long haul and the Bucks have consistently made moves to build around Giannis. The latest, a trade for Damian Lillard, fizzled out after Lillard tore his Achilles in the playoffs. He was subsequently waived and stretched.
The Bucks also lost another longtime player in Brook Lopez, as the center signed a contract with the Los Angeles Clippers. They turned around and replaced Lopez by signing Myles Turner from the Indiana Pacers to a major deal.
While there will be some unfamiliar faces in Milwaukee this season, Bobby Portis will be one of Giannis' teammates who are sticking around. He has found a home with the Bucks since signing with the team in 2020. Portis was asked by ESPN Milwaukee what he thought the future held for Giannis and responded:
"I think Giannis bleeds green, that all I'm going to say about that."
Portis is someone who may be familiar with Giannis' thinking and this seems like a strong statement, at least for the time being.
