Blake Griffin Blames This Current NBA Star for Sending Him Into Retirement

The NBA has a lot of new faces from the media side. With NBA on NBC being revitalized and games now being played on Amazon Prime, tons of new NBA legends have joined the media side of things. This means new faces like Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Carmelo Anthony, Blake Griffin, and even Michael Jordan will be around, commenting on the league today and giving new insights into their own careers.

Recently, Steve Nash went on his podcast and spoke about the moment he knew it was time to retire. He talked about a preseason game where Stephen Curry was running around and giving him the business. After that, he knew it was time to retire.

Blake Griffin also shared his “time to retire” moment as a TV analyst for Amazon’s studio team.

“I was playing in Boston, which was my last year. We’re playing in Cleveland at the time. I check into the game. A couple of minutes left in the first quarter, going up and down. I’ve got Evan Mobley. Jumper, come back down, hook, come back down, put back. Somebody got fouled. We’re both on the free-throw line. I’m like [dying]. And I look over at Evan Mobley, it’s like he’s just getting started. I was like, ‘What’s wrong with this guy?'”

There’s no huge surprise here. Just as Griffin was losing his athleticism and getting ready to hang up his sneakers, he bumped into one of the hottest young players in the league. Mobley is long, athletic, and highly skilled. Of all the people to send one into retirement, Mobley isn’t a bad player to send you on your way.
