Anthony Edwards Shoulders The Blame After Minnesota's Loss To Oklahoma City
Mar 16, 2026
The Minnesota Timberwolves and Oklahoma City Thunder are two of the top teams in the Western Conference, and with some big name young stars leading the way, they've built quite the rivalry in recent seasons. On Sunday night, they went to battle once more, and on this occasion, it was the No. 1 seed Thunder that came out on top behind 21 from Chet Holmgren and five players tallying 15 or more points on the night.
On the other side, both Julius Randle and Anthony Edwards had solid nights as they combined for 51 points, but at the end of the day, it wasn't enough to stop them losing 116-103 in a heavyweight contest. Following the performance, it was Edwards that showed his maturity, as he stood up and shouldered the loss, stating that he was to blame for his turnovers (6) and missed shots (6-17 from the field).
“I had too many turnovers myself. I didn’t make enough shots. I don’t think it has nothing to do with my team. More so myself. I had too many turnovers and not enough made shots.”
While he wasn't at his best in this one, Edwards has once again dominated in 2025/26, averaging 30 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists per game, as he's established himself as one of the best young talents in the NBA.

At the end of the day, this Timberwolves team is still sitting at 41-27 on the season, and while they came up short on this occasion, they've got enough firepower to challenge anyone in the West this season.
