Anfernee Simons Addresses His Departure From The Boston Celtics

Anfernee Simons was a great pickup for the Boston Celtics this past summer, and early in the 2025/26 season, he was a massive part of the success that they've experienced. However, at the trade deadline, the team saw an opportunity to upgrade at the 5, and they did just that, dealing Simons and other assets to land veteran big man Nikola Vucevic as they once again look to chase an NBA title in the Eastern Conference.

Despite playing in just 49 games with the team, Simons reportedly enjoyed his time with the Celtics, and in a recent interview, the young guard revealed that he'd be very open to a reunion down the line, with no hard feelings from the trade.

In his time with the Celtics, Simons averaged 14 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists per game, but now, he's with the Chicago Bulls, a team that are still seemingly in a rebuilding phase. Despite that, they're in a playoff spot in the East right now, and if they can get through the play-in, Simons may end up facing his former team at some point in the NBA Playoffs if they can make a late push.

Usually, there can be hard feelings between a player and a team if they're traded, especially if it comes in the season when they're acquired, but as of right now, it appears as though we could see a reunion between the two sides in the future.
