Lack of Trade Interest Reportedly Came As A Major Wake Up Call For Ja Morant

The 2026 NBA trade deadline was full of chaos, with several moves completely blindsiding the NBA world, with so many moves that nobody quite saw coming. One move that didn't happen that some expected was a trade of Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant, and while there was some interest, the only move that Memphis ended up making was to deal Jaren Jackson Jr. to the Utah Jazz.

The lack of a Morant trade wasn't for a lack of trying from the Grizzlies, as they wanted to get an asset or two back from a trade partner, but ultimately, nothing came to fruition. That has now reportedly come as a wake up call to Morant, as a new report reveals he was surprised at the lack of interest, serving as a wake up call to the former No. 2 overall draft pick.

While he's got immense talent on the floor, Morant has been nothing but trouble off the ice for the NBA, and with constant injuries on top of all this, it's very easy to see exactly why no teams around the league wanted to give up a first-round pick for him. This season, Morant has averaged 20 points and 8 assists per game, but he has appeared in just 20 games, something that no doubt played a role in a major lack of interest.

Ultimately, it's likely that Morant will be dealt this summer by the Grizzlies, but after getting no interest at the deadline, we'll wait to see how Morant reacts moving forward.
