Washington Wizards Hopeful Of Getting Two Big Name Veterans Back This Season

The Washington Wizards built one of the most intriguing young cores in the NBA, and this season, they've shifted completely, landing two of the biggest names in the league ahead of the trade deadline. While they've retained Kyshawn George, Bilal Coulibaly and Alex Sarr, the team have added former All-Stars in Anthony Davis and Trae Young, both of whom compliment this roster perfectly.

However, both were injured when they were acquired, with some expecting them to miss the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign as the Wizards focus on the future beyond this season. Now though, it has been reported by ESPN that the team are optimistic that they may get one, or both back at some point this season, with both Young and Davis to be assessed during the upcoming All-Star break.

Currently, the team sit at 14-38, good for third last in the entire NBA standings, and given that they'd likely be wanting to land a top pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, it makes this situation a little difficult to navigate for the team. However, if they believe in the duo of Young and Davis to slide in next to their young core, getting them back as soon as they can is going to be a major positive.

Ultimately, both players are set to be key pieces moving forward for Washington, and while debates will rage on about whether they want both back this season or not, if they're healthy, this isn't a team to take lightly moving forward.
