Milwaukee Bucks Sign Former 20ppg Scorer on Buyout Market

The Milwaukee Bucks have one last chance at keeping Giannis Antetokounmpo. If they can put together a team that Giannis deems worthy of contending for a championship before the start of next season, there is a chance that he decides to stick around.

The Bucks are going to need to be aggressive to make that happen, and that’s exactly what they did after the trade deadline passed. Shams Charania of ESPN announced on Sunday, “Free agent guard Cam Thomas has agreed to a deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, his agent Tony Ronzone of Wasserman tells ESPN. Thomas, 24, averaged 21.4 points per game over the last three seasons with the Nets.”

Cam Thomas recently made a statement on why he picked the Milwaukee Bucks: “I picked Milwaukee because they wanted me, and they told me they’ve been interested for years now. So, it’s good to have this opportunity come to fruition. And I’m just hoping to meet everybody, get to know everybody, and contribute as soon as possible.”

Getting a player like Thomas serves the Bucks in multiple ways. If he looks great and they want to sign him to a deal this offseason, they’ll have the best chance. Then it will come down to Giannis. If the Bucks go into rebuilding mode, Thomas could be worth a flyer. If they want to contend for a title, Giannis will have to give his stamp of approval on Thomas.

Either way, landing a player who just last season scored 24 points per game is a nice addition.
