Warriors Expected to Land 45.6% Three-Point Shooter in Free Agency

We are officially just a few days away from the start of training camp. The Golden State Warriors still only have nine players on their official roster. With Jonathan Kuminga’s contract negotiations still seemingly going nowhere, the Warriors aren’t able to sign any other free agents.

That doesn’t mean that they haven’t had any conversations. The Warriors are expected to make a slew of signings the second the Kuminga contract gets sorted.

Marc Stein of the Stein Line gave a Warriors update recently, and he named one sharpshooter as a likely Warriors signing.

“There is a strong expectation leaguewide now that the Warriors will also be signing Seth Curry in addition to the Horford/Melton/Payton trio. Golden State currently has six roster spots open. It's believed they will be filled by Horford, Melton, Payton, Stephen Curry's younger brother Seth, second-round pick Will Richard, and, of course, Kuminga.”

Seth Curry has been on the Warriors' radar for years. As a franchise darling, Stephen Curry’s brother, it seemed like a natural for the Warriors to consider pairing the two up.

For years, Seth wasn’t quite good enough or was a bit too expensive for the Warriors' taste. Now, however, it seems like the perfect time for a family reunion.

Seth has cemented himself as an elite 3-point shooting role player. He shoots over 43% from deep for his career, a number that even eclipses his brother Stephen.

For the Warriors, a Seth Curry signing is a solid move. They always need more shooting and spacing, and Seth should be able to fit well into the offensive system.

The main drawback is Seth’s defense. The Warriors already have some players, like Buddy Hield, who struggle on that end of the ball. The Warriors are built around three aging stars. Having solid defenders around them is going to be key to their success this season.

If Seth can prove that he isn’t a complete liability on defense, you can expect him to see some real minutes and make an impact on the Warriors roster next season.
