LaMelo Ball Seen As The 'Most Unserious Player In The NBA' By Many Around the League
Dec 11, 2025
For many years, LaMelo Ball has been one of the most exciting and talented players in the NBA, becoming the face of the Charlotte Hornets franchise. Unfortunately for the Hornets, even with the addition of players like Brandon Miller, they've struggled to take a step forward, as they remain to this day one of the worst teams in the entire league.
The blame of that can't all be placed on Ball's shoulders, but given how much he's taken on as the face of the franchise, it's easy to see why some Hornets fans would be disappointed. Perhaps the biggest reason for that is how unserious Ball appears to be about basketball from the outside looking in, and now, reporter Jake Fischer has revealed that those in the league see him that way as well.
This becomes evident in the way that Ball carries himself on and off the floor, with the Hornets clearly not having a leader in Ball despite his immense talent and ability to elevate others on the floor around him. Unsurprisingly, this has all led to speculation this season that the team could look to move on from the 24-year old, with the franchise potentially pivoting to star rookie Kon Knueppel as their future.

There's no denying the talent of Ball, but given his health issues and the criticisms over taking basketball seriously, it appears to be a matter of when, not if the Hornets deal him as they look to turn around decades of struggles.
