Warriors Could Be Chasing Major Stars This Summer

The Golden State Warriors are looking towards the offseason. Injuries to Jimmy Butler and Stephen Curry have pretty much assured that the Warriors won’t be able to compete for an NBA championship this season, which means the team is going to have to look towards next year to try to compete.

With Stephen Curry’s career slowly winding down, the Warriors owe it to him to give him one last shot at title contention. This summer, they will have some big decisions to make as far as how they want to build that team.

Warriors’ insider Nick Friedell gave some insight into what the rest of the league thinks the Warriors’ plans are this summer.

"[The rest of the League] is sitting there going 'Oh, the Warriors, the Warriors could potentially get under that line to open the doors up a little more, could get a pick in here, are going to try like crazy to land somebody, a bigger name, whoever it might be'. The League, I think, isn't concerned that [the Warriors] are going to win another title, but they are concerned that they're going to load up like crazy going into next season. Exactly what that looks like, only time will tell."

If the Warriors “load up like crazy” next season, it would signal that they are fully over with the two-timeline philosophy. The Warriors have been holding onto their young players and draft assets so that they aren’t completely screwed when Curry retires. If they want to make a big move this offseason, they will have to make those picks and players available.

The Warriors have historically been pretty conservative with offseason moves. Is this the year they decide to make a huge splash?
